Great question. On our farm here we have goats and chickens. On Shabbos morning I milked the goats so that they wouldn't feel any pain because it's forbidden to cause an animal pain. However, I let the goats drink the milk because to drink it would have violated the laws of Shabbos. I also fed the chickens this morning but did not collect the eggs which I will do tomorrow.

So, basically you take care of the animals on Shabbos, but you do not reap the benefits.

I have a Shabbos and farm work question. If you have animals on the farm, do you continue to take care of them on Shabbos. Do you still milk the cow and gather eggs, since there is the responsibility of the farmer that doesn't know Saturday from Sunday?
