There is indeed something Jewish about seltzer.
From whence exactly this Jewishness derives, I’m not so sure, but I do know one thing: I LOVE MY BUBBLY WATER. And so, I give you my most recent episode of Cookin’ titled, “Fo’ Shizzle My Fizzle.”

Nice work, Liz. Love the soundtrack. What’s next on cookin’ – maybe a class on how to be a Bobe in 3 easy steps?
umm – watching that again – is that a LACTAID egg cream? you crack me up.
There was always a bottle of seltzer with the push down top in my grandparents fridge. Completely an East Coast thing for me. Loved the video and the music.
Seltzer is a requirement at all of our holiday meals – my uncle will not drink anything else! http://whatrebeccaateforlunchtoday.blogspot.com/
Yeah. I’d say it’s more an East Coast thing than strictly a Jewish thing. Lots of families in NE Philadelphia had big blue bottles of seltzer and boxes of cartridges delivered at home back in the day. My family had seltzer delivered with the milk and butter when I was really little and still living in Kew gardens, NY.
Memories come flooding back — my Aunt Bette used to take a double delivery for the July 4th holiday so that all of us cousins could have seltzer fights (for those of you born after, say, 1972: imagine Water Willies, only encased in blue glass and capable of a MUCH more aggressive stream of water) in the alley while we were waiting for the barbecue to be done.
I think that it’s fair to say that Soda Club has democratized seltzer, or at least brought it into the 21st century. This little machine is a must-have for a serious seltzer fan. http://www.sodaclub.com/
Liz, Give Me Seltzer might be able to explain the history and Jewish connection.
Bay Area residents can still get it delivered to your door! We get two cases at a time, from seltzersisters.com …check them out!
