It's been essential in terms of trying to reduce tsa'ar ba'alei chayim (unnecessary animal suffering) in the kosher meat industry. Without the footage of conscious cows having their tracheas ripped out (AgriProcessors) and of shackling and hoisting (at a Uruguayan slaughterhouse), the worst abuses would still be continuing without any pressure on the OU or the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, respectively, to stop them.
