Last week, Adamah dropped off our first-ever Tuv Ha’Aretz share to Temple Israel Center in White Plains, New York. It felt somewhat historic (bashert? destined?) to finally bring together the young Jewish farmers at Adamah with Hazon’s Jewish Community-Supported Agriculture program. One of the highlights of the day was driving down to the city in Adamah’s new truck, which runs on used vegetable oil and is emblazoned with the icon above and the beautiful words, “Young Jewish Farmers: Changing the World One Pickle at a Time.”
We’re looking for sources of used vegetable oil to power the truck! If you have connections to restaurants who could donate used grease in Westchester, Duchess or Putnam Counties, please be in touch! Check out more photos of the truck, below.
Josh and me with Adamah’s one-of-a-kind (but hopefully not for long!) truck.
Our first Tuv Ha’Aretz CSA shares.
Adamah’s kosher, local, organic pickles, kimchi and jam for sale at the Tuv Ha’Aretz pick up in White Plains.
I think the back of the truck speaks for itself - though I can only imagine what the cars behind us must have been thinking!

I’ve been looking for kosher kimchi for years! I’m about to resort to burying a ceramic jar in my backyard and making it myself.
what a beautiful painting!
there’s this place in silverlake callled “lovecraft” that converts old reagan-era mercedes benzes to run on used cooking oil, and then put their trademark bumper sticker on them that says “i heart used oil” or similar! so neat! and then exhaust smells like donuts!
i know that biofuel such as ethanol is controversial, but it seems way logical as an interim thing to have vehicles that run on used oils. and i hear things like switchgrass and mosses and things can also make good fast-growing non-food biofuels too. yay! exciting!
and i still hope one day we can have a pickle and cake shop!
Beautiful rainbow chard - mazel tov to Adamah on your first delivery. (such nachus for a future Jewish farm mom!) and I guess the cooking oil fuel had a keksher to begin with, so now the truck is totally Kosher inside and out - that’s what I really call Eco-Kashrut!
The produce looks amazing, but Liore steals the show. What a cutie!
Whoa! The truck is incredible. Where did it come from? And the beautiful wooden crates? When did Adamah become so professional? Kol Hakavod, Anna and Pickler, and all the Adamahniks.
beautiful and exciting!
Although these photos are beautiful, it is not the wonderful van or the amazing food or the cutest Liore ever that moves me, but the possibility of Tikun Olam, fixing the world, and you folks being an Or L’Goyim, a light unto the nations! What an inspiration!
I knew something wonderful happened in westchester that day, I felt it in the air!!!!
Kol Hakavod. May you grow and multiply!!!!!!
Thanks for all the well wishes, everyone. Just back from delivering Week #2 of the CSA — I feel so much joy packing up those veggies! I think I have the best job in the world.
awesome, guys. i wonder if dan barber’s restaurant - blue hill @ stone barns in westchester would have used vegetable oil that they are not using.
Beautiful, my great-niece Liora! We knew she was special the day she was born. With her in charge you can’t help but be successful.
Awesome!
Great-looking carrots! And crates, and truck. Amazing.
