		<description>That sounds to me just like pragmatism.  Trying to label it as something that is fundamentally either religious or ethical is over-conceptualising it.  Kashrut is kashrut.  There is no such thing as &#039;Jewish&#039; food, there is food that Jews eat and it takes many forms.  Usually that food is associated to what gentiles around them are eating. Some Jews adhere to kashrut, some don&#039;t.  Eating what&#039;s around you, what&#039;s abundant, isn&#039;t such a great leap forward is it?</description>
