One Cookbook Not to Buy…

An interesting email appeared on the COMFOOD (Community Food Security Coalition) listserve today:

Hi all,

Just a note for your holiday shopping. As the Madoffs try to gather some cash, Ruth, his [Bernard Madoff's] wife, may well hope that her husband’s new notoriety will help her sell her cookbook: The Great Chefs of America Cook Kosher.  In case you weren’t aware, Mr. Madoff (mis) managed funds for the Fair Food Foundation.

Do I have to get rid of my copy? I’ve had it for years.

The reviews at Amazon are hilarious!

  3. Elisheva Says:

Actually the reviews take lashon ha’rah to new lows. If the many financial professionals now bankrupted didn’t know what was up with Madoff’s fund, I see no reason to be so confident that Ruth Madoff knew that speaking nastily about her on the website of a charity project is in any way consistent with menschlichkeit on our part.

let him go to jail, but let’s not talk dirt we don’t need to. we have enough troubles without that.

what does his wife culinary techniques have to do with anything? she has her job and he has his. On the opposite we should go out and buy her book to show support for an independent, strong woman who has her own career aspirations. I agree with Elisheva, “lets’ not talk dirt we don’t need to.”
