The story in Netanya is the same throughout all of Israel--Netanya is not particularly special. The sale of Pork was only legalized by the Supreme Court in 2003 which declared that every municipality has the right to decide its own pork future. Everywhere the sale of Pork is prohibited there are secular Israelis and Russians campaigning against the decision and everywhere Pork is legalized the Haredim do something radical. Now there are legal battles back and forth all over Israel. It's a fascinating story, and also a disheartening one.
