His first answer is that a &quot;billion people will go hungry today [...] because of gross inequalities in distribution, not tonnage&quot;, which is true, but doesn&#039;t tell us anything about whether it would still be true under his &quot;ecological model&quot;.

His second answer is that every community has to feed itself, which of course is also true, but also dodges the question.
