It's so easy and soooooo much better than anything you can buy. Some of my favorite additions are lemon zest (and I like to use the old-fashioned zester for at least part of it - the visuals are nicer than when using a microplane zester*), lemon juice, whole cinnamon and cloves, honey and booze (dark rum, bourbon or similar). * If you don't own this nifty tool, run out and buy one! You'll never be the same again. I love making applesauce. It’s so easy and soooooo much better than anything you can buy.

Sure, the result is a bissel watery, but it is sauced apple in the purest sense.
